Champ. League Matchday 1a + 1b

It’s finally that time again! The top flight of soccer starts and there some very interesting matches on the first matchday already like PSG with the star trio Mbappe, Neymar & Messi against Juventus and their top scorer Dusan Vlahovic. This time we provide you with an alternative to the usual preview. Instead of a complete lineup, we have selected five players for each of the first two matchdays, which might be interesting for you and which you might not have thought of. In addition, the season mode is now also available for the Champ. League Group stage! 15€ stake, the best three lineups will be evaluated at the end & a prize pool of 10.000€, where the first one is guaranteed to win 1.500€.
Tuesday Matchday 1a
Joe Hart (71₵, Celtic): He should still be known by many. For a long time he was the face in goal for the Citizens and now the 35-year-old Englishman is playing his second season with Celtic in the Scottish 1st Division. Celtic have a big game coming up, as they get to take on defending champions Real Madrid. I expect Hart to get some shots on his goal and prove himself as the veteran he is.
Gilberto (60₵, Benfica): The 29-year-old Brazilian, plays as a full-back for Benfica and quite often gets involved in the offense as well. Gilberto has already scored once in the league after four matchdays and additionally once in the Champ. League playoffs. The first Champ. League game for Benfica is against Maccabi, so I expect a dominant performance from the entire team, which will allow Gilberto to collect a lot of passes, and also have the opportunity to grab some good points by eventually scoring some shots.
Jota (60₵ ,Celtic): Against Real Madrid, Jota is obviously not in an optimal position. Nevertheless, he offers a good & cheap option in midfield. The 23-year-old Portuguese takes the standards at his team and already has four goals and four assists on his tally this season. So for just 60 credits, he is definitely a solid alternative to expensive players such as Kevin de Bruyne.
David Neres (70₵, Benfica): Since Benfica is one of the few teams that are clear favorites going into this matchday, it naturally makes sense to look at what the club has to offer offensively. Here my eye has fallen on David Neres, the Brazilian winger is playing a good season so far and has already scored twice for Benfica. I expect a lot of action from him against Maccabi and think he can be worth your credits even without an assist or goal, due to his low market value of just 70 credits.
Erling Haaland (200₵, Man. City): Not many words are needed about Haaland. In the Prem. League, the Norwegian is currently scoring more goals than many teams collectively. So far he has been able to succeed 10 times in front of the goal and I am sure that Haaland will try to start his Champ. League season at the Citizens with a goal and will do everything possible to score.
Wednesday Matchday 1b
Manuel Neuer (40₵, Bayern): The Munich side are currently on shaky ground and have had to settle for two draws in the Bundesliga recently. Their first opponent in the Champ. League is of a different caliber than Gladbach & Union Berlin. I expect an even match between Bayern and Inter, in which Neuer will definitely be in demand and for only 40 credits I’m happy to take arguably the best keeper in the world into my team.
Hans Vanaken (85₵, Brugge): The 30-year-old Belgian, is a real engine in the midfield of Brugge and has already attracted attention in the league with a goal and an assist. Leverkusen visit Brugge on Wednesday and I expect an even game here, where Vanaken can get some points defensively through won duels, as well as offensively through shots on goal, as the Bayer defense is not too secure yet this season.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (100₵, Napoli): All users who played in the Nat. League will remember him well. In the meantime, the man from Georgia plays for Napoli and has already scored four times and set up one goal. It should not be an easy game against Liverpool, but I think that Kvaratskhelia is a good choice, because Liverpool has not yet found its old form and the 21-year-old is currently very hot and plays an important role for Napoli.
Robert Lewandowski (145₵, Barcelona): Lewandowski didn’t take long to get used to his new team and so there are already five goals behind his name. In the Champ. League, Barca has to play against Plzen and the Blaugrana go into this game as clear favorites. I think Lewandowski can be counted on to shoot a lot in this game, but we can also expect him to score a goal, given the Pole’s current form.
