Our picks for matchday 3 in the Champ. League

The third matchday of the Champ. League is coming up and again there are some interesting games from SPITCH’s point of view, this matchday offers a lot of opportunities, because there are many matches scheduled where the favorite is quite clear, at least on paper, and as a result the players’ point potential shoots up. As always, in this preview I’ll introduce you to various players for your team that I’m convinced can strengthen your team and provide you with good points, especially for the Season Mode.

Tuesday Matchday 3a

Jamal Musiala (120₵, Bayern): The Bayern youngster is currently in outstanding form, already in the Nat. League he stood out from the crowd and in the game against Leverkusen the only 19-year-old set on top again. With two assists & a goal, he was able to play Bayern out of the crisis almost single-handedly. In addition, Kimmich and Müller are missing against Plzen, which is why Musiala will most likely play the full 90 minutes and on top of that, he is just under 20 credits cheaper than in the Bundesliga, making him an even more attractive pick for your midfield.

Pedro Goncalves (88₵, Sporting): In the Champ. League, things couldn’t be going any better for Sporting at the moment. They are at the top of Group D with 5 goals scored and 0 conceded and will be looking to continue their run against Marseille this Tuesday, so Goncalves offers a good option for your midfield for a cheap 88 credits. The 24-year-old Portuguese is currently the top scorer in the Primeira Liga and also consistently impresses with playmaking qualities and assists his teammates vividly.

Joel Matip (107₵, Liverpool): The Bochum native was able to slide back into the starting eleven due to meager performances from teammate Joe Gomez and was already able to save the Reds in the last Champ. League game against Ajax with his late goal. Now Klopp’s boys have to face Rangers and I expect Liverpool to control the match, allowing Matip to collect a lot of passes. In addition, this game offers a lot of potential for Matip to also get back into the offense and score some decent points there by scoring a goalshot or two.

Wednesday Matchday 3b

Benjamin Sesko (72₵, Salzburg): The 19-year-old Slovenian international has already reached an agreement with RB Leipzig and could show in the Nat. League why Leipzig is spot on providing him with a 5-year contract. Salzburg hosts Zagreb at home in Red Bull Arena on Wednesday and should Sesko play from the start again, he offers a great alternative or addition to the more expensive strikers on this matchday.

Dušan Vlahovic (126₵, Juve): Things have been rather mixed for the Old Lady in the league so far, however, they are clear favorites against Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday, so you should definitely have Vlahovic on your radar. The Serb is currently in good form and has 5 goals and 1 assist after eight games already. He is also responsible for the free kicks at Juve and here he has also been very successful recently, with 2 out of 5 of his goals coming from direct free kicks.

Joāo Cancelo (140₵, Man. City): Cancelo is the defender with the most points overall in the Prem. League so far. With his combination of defender, winger & playmaker, the Portuguese keeps coming up with a lot of SPITCH-points. Man. City’s opponent on Wednesday is Copenhagen and the Citizens go into this game as clear-cut favorites, so I expect Cancelo to devote himself mainly to offensive work and hopefully fire several shots on goal. In addition, Cancelo has a goalscoring machine up front in Haaland, who is just waiting to finish off the Portuguese’s crosses and secure you +100 points for the assist.
